Custom-made Choppers by renowned bike designer Paul Teutul Jr. of Discovery Channel reality TV show American Chopper fame will be coming to World of Warcraft WoTLK Gold. If this week's announcement shocked you It's likely you're not alone. We spoke to Paul Jr. himself and Blizzard today on the eve of PAX East to try to make sense of it all.
"For us, it's not something new because what we provide to companies like Blizzard is marketing that is out of the box. Everyone asks "How does this work?' and through content we make it clear," Paul Jr. explained. "For me I find this to be more suitable than certain things we've done that has been very effective. The thing I love most about this is the fact that it will activate the fan base. From a creative standpoint it allows us to create something that bridges the gap between reality and fantasy. There's nothing like this."
"I had complete creative freedom And that's not even a lie" -- Paul Jr.
Paul Jr.'s New York-based custom-bike shop Paul Jr. Designs will create two real-world motorcycles to represent the in-game factions Horde and Alliance the project will be documented through a seven-part, World of Warcraft web-series that will start this coming week. At the end of the series, viewers will be able to vote and the winner of either faction -- Horde or Alliance -- will be announced. Winners of each faction will be given a free bike in the game, whereas the other faction will remain in the mud.
Talking to P2Pah, Paul Jr.--who also designed a custom bike for Gears of war 3--reported that Blizzard didn't ever try to rein in his concepts of what Horde as well as Alliance bikes might look like buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold. The level of freedom is unheard of even for a popular and respected brand such as World of Warcraft.
