Last month, the House Judiciary Committee chairman, Jerry Nadler, requested documents from 81 people as part of an investigation into obstruction of justice.

Now Nadler has sent a total of 59 letters to the same list of individuals – including the president, Donald Trump, and his three eldest children – asking for the return of documents related to the Mueller investigation and requests to appear for questioning.
Democrats have long been demanding the release of Mueller’s entire report, but Nadler recently said he would accept only summaries of some of the evidence contained in the report.
President Trump said that Nadler “wants to interview the president”.
“Congressman Nadler should be focusing on holding the President accountable, instead of harassing a complete resistance member,” Trump said in a tweet.
But the chairman of the House intelligence committee, Adam Schiff, said Trump’s tweet was “a lie”.
Schiff, who has previously said he wants to see Mueller’s full report, also defended Nadler’s actions, calling it “the appropriate process” to obtain that information.
“The chairman has laid out the parameters of the inquiry as directed by the minority, so we will honor the majority’s request for documents,” Schiff said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Nadler recently sent letters to more than 60 former Trump advisers and lawyers, as well as dozens of current White House staffers, requesting documents related to Mueller’s investigation.
The letters requested copies of several categories of documents, including financial records, Trump family tax returns, and records related to communications with foreign entities.
Democrats have also requested that the president’s former national security adviser John Bolton provide documents relating to the Mueller investigation, and has requested that three former Trump campaign advisers, Rick Gates, Paul Manafort and Roger Stone, testify publicly.
The letters came in response to a March 4 letter sent by the White House to Nadler asking for a “voluntary accommodation 0b46394aab
