I’ve been thinking about upgrading my car’s exhaust system to a performance one, but I’m on the fence. A buddy told me it can improve horsepower and even make the car sound better, but I’ve also heard it might not be worth the money unless you’ve already upgraded other parts like the intake or ECU. I’m driving a 2017 Honda Civic and mostly use it for commuting, not racing. Has anyone here done the swap and felt a real difference?

Yeah, I’ve actually done that upgrade on my 2018 Accord last summer. I didn’t go crazy with it — just replaced the stock exhaust with a stainless-steel performance setup I found through Loud muffler https://www.vip-servicecenter.com/services/exhaust-services. The difference was noticeable, but not dramatic in terms of speed. The real payoff for me was the smoother sound and the better flow. The car doesn’t feel like it’s struggling at high RPMs anymore. Honestly, it’s more about the driving experience than pure numbers. If you’re expecting a massive power boost, you might be disappointed, but if you enjoy a cleaner tone and a bit more responsiveness, it’s totally worth it. Also, don’t forget to check your local regulations — some areas are strict about noise levels.
